Skate board Vert Best Trick
By the extremeathletes.com staff

Andy Mac doing his thing.......
Spectators gathered for the Skateboard Vert Best Trick session and had to squeeze in front of one of the big screens to catch the action because the bleachers had been full to capacity for two hours already. Fans held onto their valuable seats as they knew this would be the event that produces the best new innovative sports trick this year. They were right. The five athletes that participated busted bigger and had more air under them than the Finals yesterday. For the Best Trick session an 8 foot extension was used and a barslider was able to drop down top be used for extended rail slides.

Mathias Ringstrom kept the crowd entertained with his flashy kick flip backside 540 he persistently tried. Colin Mckay elevated the standards with consistent attempts at a nollie tail flip up the vert. Tas Pappas tried numerous amounts of air and variation tricks. He tried a 900, a nollie tail flip and a fakie heel flip, varial. Andy Macdonald also tried a selection of tricks. He began going for 360 varial kick flips, nollie heel flips to varials and persistently tried the double kick flip varial up the vert. Bob Burnquist was convinced the extension was his playground. He spent much of the session high up the wall. He first attempted going up and down until he sought to grind at the top then roll back in. It was amazing seeing him up on that 9 foot, 9 inch vert. After seeing Bob’s accomplishment, Andy went up it and used it to set-up and finish off with a 720 at the other end. Burnquist also tried many fakie tricks. He tried going fakie up to the bar extension, revert back in. He also would go attempt fakie to fakie 540’s to heel flip tail slide on the bar extension.

At the end of the 30 minute session it was tough for the judges to conceive a winner. However once Burnquist got the bar extension conquered, he rode out a nollie kick flip fakie 540 off it and won the $10,000 first place prize. Colin took second with a nollie flip backside tail slide, revert and Andy placed third with his 8 foot extension move.
